General Info
Winter 2021 election dates are Week 2 of Winter quarter – Monday, January 11, 2021 to Thursday, January 14, 2021. The only vacant position is the President. This position is for the current school year – your term begins immediately if duly elected.
As UCSB’s top student leader, the President serves as the chief executive officer (CEO) of Associated Students. The President also serves as a representative of the student body to both the university and the entire UC system as part of the systemwide Office of the President (UCOP).

Next Steps After Declaration
The next step is the Declaration of Candidacy (DoC) meeting on Zoom, scheduled for Thursday 12/3/20 from 4-5pm. After you have declared, we will send you an email with Zoom meeting registration info. Please let us know if you do not receive the email within 48 hours of your declaration. Remember, you must complete the declaration form first before you will receive a meeting invite.
The DoC meeting is mandatory in order to run. If you are not able to attend due to a work/school conflict you can choose to send a proxy in your place who is capable of taking notes for you.

* The candidate statement is a short write-up that answers the question “Why should I vote for you?”. You can read examples from a past year [here].
** This election is virtual campaigning only, which means all campaigning must be completed remotely (e.g. social media, Zoom meetings, group chats, texting your friends)
Spring General Election
If you are not eligible for run for President and/or decided that you are interested in running for next year’s AS instead, this Spring you can run for a student leadership position for the 2021-22 year (next school year).
In the yearly Spring General Election, all AS elected positions will be open. Candidate registration for the Spring General Election starts in February 2021 and we’ll hold an informational session during that time. If you are interested in that, [fill out this Google Form] to be added to our email list and we’ll make sure to email you mid-February.
