STATEMENT

Hey, Gauchos!

My name is Addy Nguyen, and I am a first-year student majoring in Political Science. Currently serving under the AS Office of the President as the Coordinator of Artistic and Cultural Affairs, I have had the opportunity to effectively engage with the student body and listen to the voices of our community.
This position has given me the privilege to connect with a multiplicity of diverse student groups, helping establish a welcoming environment for everyone.

As a candidate for Off-Campus Senator, I strongly believe in the value of transparency in decision-making. Strengthening the communication between AS and the student body is one of my main priorities, as this action fosters accountability and accessibility to financial information regarding student fees.

Along with honesty, I deem inclusivity to be the best policy. As a Senator, I strive to fortify that every individual feels a part of our community and that each person’s voice is amplified.

Coming from an Asian-American household, family is everything. I am always surrounded by the overwhelming love and support from my relatives, which has shaped me into the empathetic and compassionate woman I am today.

Stepping onto our campus, the down-to-earth community and the hospitable atmosphere truly made UCSB feel like my home away from home. Instantly, I was encompassed by immense support, and I want to reciprocate this support to my second family.

Thus, my last goal is to certify a secure environment for all students, where everyone has access to immediate and comprehensive safety resources extending off campus. I plan to strengthen safety protocols and services, ensuring the protection of every individual’s welfare.

Taking on this role in the AS Senate, I will undoubtedly devote my time and attention towards ensuring that your needs and concerns are met. Hence, I not only want you to view me as one of your peers, but also as a friend whom you can rely on and trust invariably.

Best regards,
Addy Nguyen 🙂
