Shea Sullivan
Collegiate Senator - Letters & Science
Independent

STATEMENT

My name is Shea Sullivan and I am currently a first-year Sociology major with aspirations to go pre-law. I am interested in being the AS College of Letters and Science Senator because of my desire to serve as a voice for those who may not always feel heard. I value collaboration between students and administration, especially in academic and institutional decision-making space. I envision contributing to the campus community by prioritizing and amplifying the needs and concerns of students. Through my experience as President of Anacapa Residence Hall, I have developed the ability to listen to a wide range of perspectives, identify common priorities, and advocate for solutions that benefit the broader community. I have served in many organizations and groups. I was elected as class president and worked closely with my grade advisors to fund and organize grade wide events. Outside of school organization, I participated in the Ambler Kiwanis club by volunteering at community events, such as musical festivals, flea markets, and after school tutoring. I also founded my own organization that focuses on finding sustainable solutions to end the cycle of homelessness. During my time on campus, I devoted most of my efforts to being President of Anacapa Residence Hall and a coordination board member of the Residential Housing Association. If elected, I hope to provide greater autonomy for students and residents in Isle Vista by creating accessible opportunities for the community to voice their opinions. Based on the needs of the students around me, I will use the power granted to me to push legislation toward student autonomy and voices.
