Hi Gauchos! I'm Faizaan Chunawala, and I'm running to be your Off-Campus Senator.

I'm an off-campus student just like you, dealing with overpriced rent, a CAPS waitlist longer than your syllabus, and a spring weekend that felt more like a county crackdown than a celebration. I'm running because our community deserves better, and I'll actually show up to fight for it.

Here's what I'm pushing for:

Make Soltopia LEGENDARY — It was a solid start, but 6 hours on one Saturday isn't the Gaucho spring tradition we deserve. I'll work with IVCSD and AS to make it bigger, louder, and longer with more stages, more local artists, and a real block party that actually feels like ours.

More Events All Year — One festival isn't enough. I'll push for more AS-funded block parties, cultural nights, and pop-up events throughout the quarter so there's always something bringing our community together in I.V.

Real Mental Health Support — CAPS wait times are unacceptable. I'll fight to increase funding, expand peer counseling, and make mental health resources actually accessible, not just a poster in the UCen.

Fairer I.V. Housing — I'll back stronger tenant protections so landlords are held to the standards we're paying for.

UCSB has the best students in the world. Let's build a campus life that matches.
