STATEMENT
Hi, I’m Daniel Kaminsky, a third-year transfer student majoring in Economics & Accounting. Like many transfer students, I came into UCSB navigating housing, classes, and campus life quickly, often feeling a step behind students who have been here longer. That experience is exactly why I’m running for Transfer Senator.
Transfer students bring a lot to this campus, but we’re often underrepresented in decisions that directly affect us. As Transfer Senator, I want to make sure our voices are not only heard, but actually acted on. In the AS Senate, that means advocating for transfer-specific issues, pushing for meaningful policy changes, and working with administration to improve the overall transfer experience.
One of my main priorities is addressing housing challenges that often impact transfer students more due to later admission timelines and limited access to campus housing. I also want to push for clearer academic advising pathways and stronger onboarding resources so transfer students can integrate more smoothly and succeed from day one. Beyond that, I aim to build stronger connections within the transfer community so students feel supported and involved, not isolated.
In the past, I worked as a Project Coordinator at a construction firm, where I developed strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. I’m someone who listens, follows through, and takes initiative.
As a senator, I will use these skills to actively represent transfer students in Senate discussions, support funding for programs that benefit our community, and push for real improvements that make UCSB a better place for transfers. Being a transfer student shouldn’t mean feeling behind, it should mean bringing a valuable perspective that helps shape this campus.
I’m committed to making sure transfer students are represented in a real and impactful way.
