What’s up Gauchos! My name is Atticus Gonzalez. I am currently a third year studying Data Science here at UC Santa Barbara. I am running for L&S senator as I care about representing and hearing all of your voices. Originally from Oakland I have been surrounded by diverse perspectives, ideas, and lived experiences. This environment shaped how I think, believing that real progress comes from listening, understanding, and bringing people together.
As your senator, I will ensure that every student feels heard and represented. I will work to make sure students feel connected to their A.S. representatives and understand how decisions are made. My goal is to bridge this gap through accessibility, transparency, and advocacy for your needs, all while upholding integrity.
As a member of the UCSB debate team, I’ve developed an ability to listen, challenge, and advocate for ideas effectively. I am not afraid to speak up, challenge premises, and fight for what students deserve, all while valuing the importance of working collaboratively to create real solutions.
My main priorities include increasing transparency around student fees, improving communication between A.S. and the student body, and creating more opportunities for students to share their concerns and ideas. Whether it’s academic resources, campus life, or broader student issues, I want to make sure your voice is brought directly to the table.
I’m running because I care about this community and believe student government should work for all of us. If elected, I will be a representative who listens, acts, and follows through.
