STATEMENT
Hello! My name is Alex Esparza, and I am a fourth year Economics student at UCSB and I am also a transfer student. When I first got here, I struggled to find my place, but over time I got involved with Associated Students and found a community that made campus feel more like home.
Since then, I have taken on leadership roles where I’ve worked directly on student programming and funding initiatives that positively impact everyday student life. Through this experience, I’ve seen both what works, and what needs to change.
I am running for AS President because I want to make student government more accessible, more transparent, and more responsive to the needs of our students. I want to focus on improving communication within BCU’s, supporting student organizations & departments, and making sure students actually feel the impact of where their fees are going by listening to feedback from the services that AS provides.
In my time here I’ve already contributed to meaningful change, and I believe as President I can do even more. All the best to the candidates and our student body!
