Sohan  Sunderrajan

Hello everyone! My name is SOHAN SUNDERRAJAN(He/Him) and I am running to be your next COLLEGE OF LETTERS AND SCIENCES SENATOR.

I am a transfer from Diablo Valley College, and I am majoring in Political Science with a minor in Data Science. I am committed to making our campus a better place not just for all current students, but also for all future Gauchos whatever their path may be. I am the proud son of two Indian immigrants who without I would be nowhere as far.

The College of Letters & Science is the heart of UCSB, home to the most diverse range of majors and students, yet too often, our concerns are overlooked. I am running to make sure every student in L&S has the support they need to thrive.

My Experience:
Founded the Youth Democratic Socialists of America chapter at Dougherty Valley High School
Vice President of the Diversity in Stem club at Diablo Valley College
Current Project Director for the First Speaker Pro-Tempore

My plan:

REPRESENT transfer students by promoting equity and expanding access to the resources and knowledge they need to thrive.
AMPLIFY the voices of underrepresented students to drive systemic change and create a more inclusive academic and social environment.
ENSURE UC Santa Barbara is more affordable and accessible through increased financial aid transparency, and making course materials more affordable for students.
ADVOCATE for more attainable housing by expanding university-sponsored housing options with greater protections for student renters.
