Off Campus Senator
Independent

STATEMENT

Voting for Natalia Pascher is a vote in favor of preserving the sacredness of membership rights. You (yes you!), as a student pay into the Association through a mandatory quarterly fee. What does that mean? That means that the Association has a duty to serve the student body and uphold your constitutional rights.

As students, I know you are busy, and it is not a top priority to entangle yourself in AS Politics. I urge you, however, as a subscribing member of the Association, to exercise your civic duty to vote in an informed manner in this upcoming election. I encourage you to research all candidates running, and make sure that you are voting for someone that has your best interests in mind. The responsibilities of an Off-Campus Senator should be delegated to an elected official who knows how to make impactful change within the Senate. With my experience at Associated Students in the Office of the Attorney General and Transfer Student Alliance, I will not be going into A.S. blindly.

With realistic change in mind, I would be honored to make meaningful change within the Senate. Should your vote allow me to do so, I would like to address systemic issues within AS. While this seems like an impossible task, it is not. With the help of others in the Senate that want to protect democratic processes, it can be done. For these reasons, my goal as an Off-Campus Senator is to address certain downfalls in Senate operation to better allow for future elected student officials to use their time in AS government to be creative and foster culture. Afterall, UCSB should prioritize student-life and well-being.

To do so, there are some things that should be addressed first:
1. Tackle Financials
Money is what funds all Association operations. Without a firm hold on the money entrusted to us by students, the Association cannot allow you to fully enjoy your rights as a subscribing member
2. Strengthen A.S. 'Branches' of Government
By strengthening A.S. branches of government, you simultaneously strengthen the necessary function of checks and balances within our student government.
3. Make Campus Safer
Despite this being my first year at UCSB, I have been made aware of, quite frankly, an overwhelming amount of crimes committed against our student population. Certainly, there is something that the Association can do in protecting the very well-being of students as a whole.

For these reasons, should you care for real change to occur, you should vote for Natalia Pascher for Off-Campus Senator.
