STATEMENT

As someone with several years of political advocacy, creating real government change, and also having extreme nihilism for the future, I understand the plight of students and know how to champion their ideals to create real change. Why are all the systems at this school so convoluted? Do you know how many thousands of dollars are locked in coffers that even the Associated Students themselves can barely touch? Where is the money going? These questions are ones I will figure out the answers to if I am elected to the Senate. No one wants to read an essay, so I want to simplify things:

In my home county, my advocacy helped reform accessibility in a NON-LAW ENFORCEMENT mental health phoneline with mental health responders, not untrained police who aren’t meant to be taking care of such situations. I am also a board member of my county’s mental health program, and know how to correspond with real government staff and communicate in a way to optimize pushing the policies that I believe in. And often, the policies I believe in are ones that benefit the larger population such as: Mental health advocacy, anti-genocide/anti-colonialist resistance, environmental protections, and removing financial clog to make your tuition dollars actually work.

Even though I’m a goth girl who always looks mad, I have hundreds of hours working at wildlife sanctuaries and animal shelters, and have the empathy to hear different perspectives and try to understand other sides. No matter who you end up voting for, I look forward to serving you and the rest of the student population in some capacity.
