STATEMENT

My name is Caleb and I am a third-year Political Science major running as a Senator for the College of Letters and Science.
We face daily gut-wrenching news about the state of our nation, though I want to reiterate that the spark of intrepid hope will not be extinguished by mere coercion.

This political climate affects everyone—not just students; reverberating through stories of undue process and an ever increasing apathy for our neighbors; witnessed among my closest friends, coworkers, and classmates. Yet, do not be compelled to reverse the precedent of our nation's compelling interest in redressing past grievances.

Their reactionary, exclusionary and alienation of your peers must not conjure hopelessness but instead demand an impetus for change renewing our voice and speaking for those who don't.

Having emigrated from the Philippines, naturalized in California, I am thankful for my position, yet, I share the same fears and concerns that many of you hold. They have and will, again and again, continue to plunge our experiences into a sea of unsung voices. Yet, we must remain steadfast as a collective voice for all.

I’ve worked as a Basic Needs Advocate, helping students access vital resources with food and housing security, rendering assistance against the systemic barriers students face, fueling my commitment to meaningful change.

As Head of Staff under the First Pro-Tempore in Associated Students, I am devoted into effectively delivering tangible results for all students through feasible means.

My utmost focus will be on:

Bike Security, ensuring safe and reliable storage on campus and a proactive approach to theft.

Maintenance and upkeep of Basic Needs Programs, ensuring essential resources remain protected, improved and sustainable

Creating new programs to fill gaps in resource access and expand academic support through the distribution of software and programs.

I hope you’ll join me in creating a campus where every student can thrive where no one is left behind.
