I’m NOURA ELKHATIB and I’m running for COLLEGE OF LETTERS AND SCIENCE SENATOR.

I am a 3rd year History and Philosophy double major, who recently transferred to UCSB last October. I am a proud Palestinian-American student, although I have been immersed in diverse communities of people throughout my life. Because of this, I am passionate about advocating for all communities facing oppression and discrimination at UCSB.

In the past six months, we have seen a rise in Islamophobia and racist anti-Palestinian sentiment on campus. I have witnessed how the majority of students don’t feel represented by our current student government. I have witnessed firsthand the culture of silencing, intimidation, and bullying that our current AS senate upholds and encourages. I plan to change this.

As senator, I would take the voices of UCSB students to the center. I would consider my position as a representative of the student body a priority, and would proudly advocate for those whose voices have been silenced.
