Jackson Tofft

Fellow Gauchos,

My name is Jackson Tofft and I am a third year political science and environmental studies double major and I’m running to be your next campus senator with Campus United. Being a part of the UCSB community for the past three years has completely changed my perspective on life and helped me to become the best possible version of myself. Because of the profound impact this community has had on my life, it is my earnest desire to give back by advocating for the interests of the UCSB students living in Isla Vista, and bringing real and impactful change to our community through AS.

My Experience:

Vice President of the Zeta Kappa Chapter of Sigma Chi (2019-present)

Risk Manager of the Zeta Kappa Chapter of Sigma Chi (2019)

Delegate at the 79th session of the California Boy’s State Conference (2016)

My Goals:

Create an ‘IV Landlords 101’ handbook to better inform tenants in Isla Vista of their rights and how they can hold their landlords accountable and not sign lease agreements with unfair provisions

Increase the sustainability and environmental consciousness of the Isla Vista community by implementing AS recycling bins in Isla Vista and subsidizing energy saving technology such as LED light bulbs and smart power strips

Improve sidewalk maintenance and build more sidewalks by working with local governing bodies to help keep Isla Vista safe

Tackle the growing problem of food insecurity in our community by implementing an AS sponsored low income food bank in Isla Vista

Create a used academic textbook exchange to help lower the cost of books for students

Implement more resources for survivors of sexual assault by working with STESA and CARE
