My name is ALEXANDRA PEREZ, my pronouns are she/her/hers, and I am ready to represent our community as YOUR next Off-Campus Senator with the ISLA VISTA PARTY! I am a second-year Political Science and History of Public Policy and Law double major and I am passionate about social justice, human rights, and music! Most importantly, I am committed to improving the university by expanding the resources available to us.
Resident Assistant (Santa Catalina North)
Outreach and Recruitment Coordinator for Committee on Committees (AS entity)
Collaborated on designing and implementing a residential curriculum that helped facilitate dialogue in diversity, social justice, and more for 700+ students
EXTEND the walk-in hours and weekend/after-hours availability of Student Health and CAPS in order to accommodate all students.
COLLABORATE with SBMTD and the EVPLA to work on extending busses or providing more frequent busses to Isla Vista to service the residents of Isla Vista.
PROVIDE free menstrual products around campus in places such as lecture hall bathrooms and in Isla Vista.
COMBAT food insecurity by providing more meal vouchers to students living in Isla Vista and working with Housing, Dining, and Auxiliary enterprises to allow students to bring containers from home for take-out/leftovers to fight food waste.
IMPLEMENT a Mental Health, Sexual and Gender Diversity, and Cultural Diversity, training for incoming first-years and university employees.
ESTABLISH a quarterly AS-wide Town Hall as a forum for open discussion with the student body. Mandatory attendance of all senators and executives would be required in order to hold the accountability of elected officials.
In the past two years, I have worked hard to be a resource to not only residents but also to anyone who needs my help. Contact me with any questions at firstname.lastname@example.org.
