The AS Legal Resource Center (AS LRC) provides free legal counseling services to the UCSB campus. The AS LRC exists to assist students in responding to legal problems that may be interfering with their academic studies or otherwise adversely affecting their well-being. AS LRC Student Legal Services Advisors are available to provide all registered UCSB students with legal education and information, and/or referrals, unless it involves the university of another UCSB student. The AS LRC can provide support on a variety of legal matters, including but not limited to: landlord-tenant disputes, criminal citations, contracts, personal injury matters, consumer complaints, credit and debt problems, family law, traffic tickets, employment, and immigration.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the AS LRC has provided remote services Monday through Friday from 11am-5pm via Zoom, FaceTime, and phone consultations. The AS LRC has conducted over 800 virtual consultation appointments during this time, and will continue to provide virtual support to students and is working to transition to safe in-person services as soon as possible. The AS LRC also provides programs to support student engagement in the current remote environment, such as collaborative educational webinars and a virtual legal movie discussion club. Lastly, the AS LRC hosts an internship program for UCSB students who are interested in exploring the field of law.
