STATEMENT
Associated Students has long been isolated and unresponsive to students’ needs. This is unacceptable for an institution that should represent us all. As your next Internal Vice President, I'll ensure that your student government works for you.
I’m Enri, a third-year History & Global Studies major. I was born and raised in Albania before immigrating to California. I’m currently serving as your Off-Campus Senator and my record of service has directly shaped what I want to accomplish as IVP.
This service didn’t begin inside AS but out on campus. I founded a student org called YouthBridge Housing, which tackles the housing issues impacting us all and connects our campus to help end the homelessness crisis. I also served as President of Ethics Bowl, a philosophical debate team that proudly represents UCSB, recently placing second in the nation.
These experiences formed my priorities as a Senator. This year, I took the lead on housing by holding the Administration accountable for failing to progress on the vital San Benito and Ocean Rd. projects. I also led the Senate’s efforts to revitalize the ILP bike path project and improve its financial contributions to campus.
I've dedicated myself to these goals as a Senator and am asking for your vote to take it to the next step. As your IVP, I will fight to:
1. ACHIEVE CONCRETE HOUSING RESULTS! As the representative of undergrads to the Administration, I’ll work to secure concrete timelines for all ongoing housing projects by the end of the term, ensuring that each is built along student interests.
2. BUILD THE DAMN BIKE PATH! My time in the Senate began a new effort to complete this project. I’ll use this momentum to push for its approval.
3. IMPROVE ACCESS TO FUNDING! Registered Campus Organizations like mine face undue stress in securing the funds they need. I will lead a project to remove the requirement for them to pay fees out of pocket first.
To accomplish this vision and for the campus we deserve, vote Enri!
