Hey Gauchos! My name is Alexis Telford, a third-year Communication major running for University Owned Off-Campus Senator. I aim to infuse the vibrant and diverse camaraderie of Bikini Bottom into crafting a safer, more inclusive UCSB environment. My B.I.K.I.N.I. plan promises to enhance safety, brighten our spaces, and weave a strong community fabric, ensuring every student feels supported.

B – Broaden Safety Initiatives: Enhancing campus safety measures by expediting the installation of blue light emergency poles in university owned off-campus apartments, ensuring better access to security.

I – Illuminate Dark Areas: Installing improved LED lighting in parking lots and pathways to make these areas feel safer at night.

K – Keep Inclusive Community Conversations: Organizing regular forums and discussions with the student body to address safety concerns, gather feedback, and ensure all voices are heard, promoting a welcoming environment.

I – Increase Patrols: Collaborating with Campus Community Service Officers to ensure more frequent patrols in off-campus living areas, providing a consistent security presence that deters potential threats.

N – Nurture a Sense of Belonging: Incorporating my own experience of being adopted and fostering chosen families, aiming to create a supportive community where every student, irrespective of their background, feels like they belong and are protected.

I – Innovate with Student-Led Initiatives: Encouraging and supporting projects driven by students, putting the power in YOUR hands to shape your campus experience and well-being.
