Alexandria Turner
Collegiate Senator - Letters & Science
Save Isla Vista

STATEMENT

Hello, my name is Alexandria Turner. I am a Promise Scholar and EOP student who is a first year Chemistry major running with the Save Isla Vista Party. Outside of academics, I enjoy gardening, making matcha, and playing the electric guitar.

In the past, I served as Vice President of San Nicolas Hall, where I managed budgets and tracked finances while also helping coordinate communication between residents and our council. I also took initiative in planning and leading a matcha event alongside other members of our hall council.

I have also volunteered with SciTrek, a science outreach program where I engaged younger students in hands-on STEM activities. Through this experience, I developed stronger communication skills and learned how to explain ideas in ways that are clear and approachable.

These experiences have strengthened my ability to listen and stay organized, while also advocating for others when it matters. I understand how important it is to feel supported in college, especially when many of us are navigating uncertainty in our academics, choosing a major, and figuring out our overall path.

If elected as your College of Letters and Science Senator, I will work to address course enrollment challenges, clarify major requirements, and make sure student concerns are genuinely heard. I plan to gather student feedback actively and bring those concerns forward, while also advocating for clearer resources and better communication from departments. With over 90 majors and 38 minors, I know how easy it can be to feel lost, and I want to help make navigating that process simpler and more accessible.

College shouldn’t be something we just survive; it should be something we build together. And I would be honored to be given the opportunity to represent you as your College of Letters and Science Senator.
