STATEMENT

At UCSB, students are encouraged to innovate, grow, & make lasting impacts in & outside the classroom. But there’s room for improvement; especially when it comes to the quality of each individual's life.

My name’s Leah Namvar & I’m running for Off-Campus Senator.

As a Pre-Health student nearing the end of my 1st year, I’ve seen the struggles students face with what college life brings. I’m running to ensure each Gaucho has what they need to flourish, no matter one’s background or field. Remember–you’re meant to LIVE, not merely survive.

As your senator, I’ll focus on:

STUDENT SUPPORT: I know the academic & pre-professional journey can be intense. I’ll work to increase resources + mentorship opportunities for students–whether you need guidance on the grad-school process. I’ll work with existing programs (i.e.Pre-Health counseling) to enhance student support.

COMMUNITY SAFETY/ENGAGEMENT: I’m committed to making you feel a part of our community. I’ll work to improve campus safety measures, strengthen ties with UCPD, & make IV safe. Safety is about more than just protection, it’s about belonging to a community. I’ll push for more programs that foster connection.

ACCESSIBLE HOUSING: Housing in IV is overpriced & overcrowded. Off-campus students especially feel this burden. I’ll advocate for affordable housing solutions, push for better housing options, & create stronger support systems for those struggling to find a place to live.

WELLNESS: Balancing academics, work, & life can surely be overwhelming. As someone in a demanding major, I know how important your HEALTH is to your OVERALL SUCCESS. I’ll work to expand supportive health services, providing productive outlets.
I believe in UCSB’s potential to be an EVEN better place: somewhere all can thrive. Every Gaucho deserves access to the support, resources, & opportunities that will make college both productive & fulfilling. Vote for me & together, we’ll build a clear path to success!
